Things are looking up

Fri Aug 17, 2007, 12:17 PM
Well I had a job interview today and it went pretty well. Hopefully I'll be working in the centre of London by the end of the month.

I've begun to get incredibly bored with deviant art however, less and less people communicate, view and comment and the whole place seems to be going down hill.

The reasons I was here was that it provided a digital portfolio and a way to meet models.
Well now I have a portfolio at [link] and I have a profile on Model Mayhem which means a far more professional way of doing both.

So why stay? I dont think I will much longer. Yes deviant art gives you a worldwide audience, but its generally a local audience that buys your work, models for you and helps with your career, not a 14 year old kid in Texas.

So I'll still be around and looking at work and commenting, but I'm more likely to add new work elsewhere than here.

Ben.

well you should email me if you feel like it so we dont lose touch on that project
:iconneb8neb:
if you note me your msn it'd be a lot easier to stay in touch on that front! Dont worry, I'll still be around dev art, just dont think I'll upload as much.

I'm always looking for models (male/female, any age), if you'd like to help out in anyway, let me know. Bear in mind I work from Southampton/London and the South East. [link]

As said before, I'm with you all the way on devart going stale. I think it comes and goes in cycles -- when I first joined I knew a certain set of people, and then for one reason or another moved to another, and then another -- you're the person who I've 'known' for the longest on here, I think.

My biggest probelm with here is that I want to work at a larger scale, but that doesn't translate well to digital, because it's very difficult to get a good representation of an A2 picture using a camera. The mail-art stuff sorted that for a little while, but that ran it's course some time ago. So yeah, I'll still log-in every day, but I probably won't do much else.

And where's this job going to be, if you get it? What would you be doing?
:iconneb8neb:
It's based right next to the Bank of England in the shadow of the Natwest Building, so pretty central. I'd be a recruitment consultant basicallyy.

Well where are you based? Perhaps we could try and organize some offline stuff?

All I can say is "Awesome!".

I think if one is serious about what they put up here then "graduating" from dA is EXACTLY what should happen. One's own website is always the way to go.

As for myself, I will stay longer as it's always going to be just a hobby to take snaps of insects really up close. Having an account here forces me to think about putting more in it as I am using it as self medication. A kind of creative therapy against my unfortunate tendency towards clinical depression.

This is weird since I don't even know you, I just have you on my devwatch list....but I feel kind of sad that I won't see you pop up in my updates as often. Isn't that weird?
:iconneb8neb:
It is, but I feel tyhe same about people I know via deviant art. I don't know them, but I would notice their absense.

Recruitment Consultancy is big business from what I can tell... good luck.
